Uniswap Labs announced the blocking of sanctioned addresses at the frontend level

Uniswap Labs, the company behind the development of the leading Ethereum exchange Uniswap, started blocking at the frontend level, addresses associated with illegal activity.

Blockchain data monitoring is implemented in conjunction with the TRM Labs platform. The latter marks crypto wallets that may be associated with hacker attacks, fraud, terrorist financing, ransomware, human trafficking, as well as sanctioned addresses.

“It is Uniswap Labs’ policy to prevent the use of our application by people engaged in illegal activities,” reads the FAQ on the company’s website.

At the time of writing, the number of blocked addresses is unknown.

Formerly Ethereum Mixer Tornado Cash started blocking addresses sanctioned by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury.
