The Solana team discovered the reasons for yesterday’s attack and hacked wallets. The Slope mobile wallet app was the culprit.

“The secret key information was inadvertently passed on to the application monitoring service,” adds the blockchain team.

They continue to investigate the details of how exactly the exploit was set in motion. It is currently isolated in a Solana wallet. Slope hardware wallets stay safe.

The Slope team confirmed that the hackers cracked a group of their private keys. They expressed their condolences to all the victims. The criminals have robbed the wallets of Slope management and employees. Now the company attracts auditors and leading security experts.

Slope recommended that users create a new wallet and transfer existing assets there. 

Recall that more than 7,700 wallets were affected during the hacker attack, and the damage amount exceeded $8 million. The Solana team promises to compensate for the losses, but the exact timing of payments is still unknown.
