Dogecoin co-founder calls for a cross-chain bridge with Ethereum

Creating a cross-chain bridge between the Dogecoin and Ethereum blockchains will add practical value to the meme-cryptocurrency. This opinion was expressed by its co-founder Billy Markus.

The bridge will expand the use cases for DOGE in the Web 3.0 realm, he says.

“This would open up the possibility for places like OpenSea to accept Dogecoin for purchases in a wrapped version. Basically, the bridge would allow converting DOGE to a wrapped token and back, unlocking the technology,” Markus wrote.

According to him, specially created sites will be able to see the wrapped coins in the MetaMask wallet and provide new features and opportunities for their holders.

The expansion of the number of companies accepting cryptocurrency and its use for donations will also add utility to Dogecoin, Markus noted.

Recall that in April, the founder and CEO of the online broker Robinhood Vlad Tenev named conditions making DOGE the “future currency of the internet and people”.
