Socios Invests $100 Million In Barcelona’s Metaverse
Socios platform owner Chiliz has invested $100 million in NFTs and the FC Barcelona metaverse.
It has acquired a 24.5% stake in Barça Studios, the digital content creation arm of the Spanish football giant.
Socios representatives say the deal aims to develop the club’s Web3 ecosystem, including new products and features.
Recall that in 2020, Barcelona decided to issue tokens for fans.
In March 2022, the football club announced plans to create its cryptocurrency.
In the same month, Chiliz launched the Chiliz Chain 2.0 blockchain testnet , developed in collaboration with the Ankr project.
