New York Attorney General Wants To Help Crypto Investors
New York City Attorney General (USA) Letitia James issued an official statement in which she invited all employees of the crypto industry who may have witnessed fraud or misconduct to write a statement to address the situation.
She issued a request to investors not to hush up cases of fraud and crime. The officer of the law assured: against the backdrop of many cases related to crypto projects that suffered due to the recent market crash, you should not remain silent and boldly contact the Investor Protection Bureau (NYAG).
James noted that many promised investors fabulous profits, but people lost their investments. The Attorney General mentioned the collapse of the Terra ecosystem and the situation with the freezing of accounts in staking and income farming programs on the Anchor, Celsius, Voyager, and Stablegains platforms. She confirmed: that users can write to the organization anonymously, and each request will be considered separately.
Earlier, the Attorney General issued a notice instructing investors in digital assets to declare and pay taxes on profits from cryptocurrencies. In addition, NYAG reached an agreement with BlockFi for about $ 1 million. It was this money that the company paid as a fine for placing unregistered virtual securities on its platform.
Market experts noted that recently several US states, such as Vermont, Alabama and Texas, have begun to actively investigate the activities of cryptocurrency scammers, in particular, once large companies in this industry.
